privacy

kindling is made by jan rebolledo. this page is the whole policy: what the app uses, why, and who else sees it. we don’t sell your data, we don’t run ads, and we don’t want your screenshots sitting on our servers.

screenshots

when you scan screenshots, kindling reads the text on your iphone. the photos stay on your phone. we never upload them.

that text is sent to google’s gemini so it can find places and events, and pull out details like tips. we keep those bits on your saved places. we don’t keep the full screenshot text. google may use that text to improve gemini and their other products, per their gemini terms.

photo identifiers

to show your original screenshot next to a saved place, we store an id for that photo on your account — the id your phone uses, not the image. that’s the only reason we keep it.

account

you sign in with apple. we store your name, the email apple shares (if any), and a username so you can use the app, plus a couple of preferences like how you like to get directions. account data lives in supabase.

saved places

places you save — name, address, hours, and a photo of the venue — live with your account. that’s your list, not a copy of your screenshots.

location

if you allow it, kindling uses your location on your phone to estimate travel time. we don’t send your live location to our servers.

you can turn off photo or location access anytime in ios settings → kindling.

sharing

if you share a place from the app, we publish the saved venue (name, photo, location, highlights) at a public link. your screenshot is not included.

who else sees data

apple (sign in), supabase (account and saved places), google gemini (screenshot text, to find places), and cloudflare (hosts the app). supabase, gemini, and cloudflare are required under their terms to protect this data. we keep logs for up to 7 days to debug the app. they don’t contain screenshot images or the full screenshot text — just technical info like error messages, and sometimes venue names. we don’t use analytics or ad trackers.

deletion

you can delete your account from the app at any time, or email us and we’ll do it. that wipes everything tied to you.

kids

kindling isn’t for anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

changes

if this policy changes, we’ll update this page with a new date.
